Although The Salvation Army has had a presence in Torry since the 1930s, 2008 saw the beginning of something of a relaunch for us. We have a vision, taken from the pages of the bible, to rebuild, restore and renew not just places but people's lives and to proclaim that God has plans to give everyone a hope and future who trust in him.
We are built out of blocks of small groups called Life Groups which meet weekly in various places around Torry and beyond. We meet to eat, discover what the bible has to say to our lives, to connect with God and each other and to make faith work. We also meet monthly when all our groups come together for a celebration and meal.
We get involved in a whole lot of other stuff. We have plenty of things for children and teenagers and a whole variety of community services that you can find details of under the 'Community' tab above. For a more detailed desciption of our mission, vision and our values, please download the powerpoint file from the right hand side of the page.
To put it in a nut shell, we simply want to see the transforming message of Jesus do its powerful work in our community.
Our leaders are Andrew & Tracy Clark. Andrew & Tracy are captains in The Salvation Army and work for the organisation full time. They live in Torry along with their children Ben and Ceitidh and cavalier king charles spaniel Brengle.
Andrew and Tracy were commissioned as Salvation Army Officers in 2004 although they have been working in similar roles within the movement since 2001. They have served in Glasgow, Bristol, Wick and now Aberdeen.
Andrew & Tracy have just joined the gym in a desperate effort to keep the pounds off, enjoy eating out, taking a long drive and spend huge amounts of time trying to entertain two energetic kids! We are still in mourning for our beloved VW camper, Daisy (may she rust in peace) and we hope to own another one someday!
